Smoke On The Water by Deep Purple
Purple's finest line up included vocalist Ian Gillian, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, keyboardist Jon Lord, bassist Roger Glover, and drummer Ian Pace. Originating from Hertford, England, Deep Purple had their first hit with their cover of Joe South's "Hey Joe" later popularized by Jimmy Hendrix. Their "Live in Japan" double live album became one of the best selling live albums ever! This well produced video is one of the few known to exist with this lineup. I'm a big fan of "Hammond Organ" Guru, Jon Lord. His style along with Greg Allman influenced my keyboard chops that helped me win auditions with local bands. Ahhhh...Those that don't achieve success, write about it. Keeping much of their original line up, Deep Purple has reunited and on tour next month in Japan and Russia.
